How it all began

Ever wondered what top commercial hatcheries and breeding stations feed their fish to nurture them through each growth stage until they’re ready for your aquarium? So did we!

For many years we supply premium fish feeds to commercial hatcheries, breeding stations, holding facilities, and laboratories. Then,in 2012, an idea struck: why not make these high-quality feeds available to aquarium enthusiasts? That’s how Reefpearls began as a coral feed, designed to bring professional-grade nutrition to home aquariums.

In 2023, a unique opportunity arose to bring even more exclusive, professional, products to the market. Teaming up with our long-term trusted partner, one of the largest EU suppliers of commercial fish feeds, we decided to expand. By 2024, Reefpearls, Freshpearls, Freshpearls Cichlid and Goldpearls became available as premium fish feeds. Alongside these, we introduced our Seaweeds, perfect as a supplement for omnivores or the main feed for herbivores.

Our Pearls are premium extruded mini-pellets with excellent water stability to ensure optimal water quality. With balanced, high-quality marine ingredients, these pellets offer everything your fish need to thrive: digestibility, palatability, high protein, and immunity-boosting nutrients. The Pearls contain no dust, making them ideal for automated feeders, and come in 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0, 4.0 and 6.0mm sizes. The 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0mm pellets are each packed with Bactocell® and B-Wyse™ for enhanced disease resistance.

Why don't we make flakes?

Our pearls are being fed in top commercial hatcheries and breeding stations. Here they feed their fish to nurture them through each growth stage until they’re ready for your aquarium. They only feed pellets because:

1. Nutritional Density

• Flakes, being lightweight, can lose some nutrients when exposed to air or light over time, especially vitamins.
• Pellets are more compact and often contain higher concentrations of nutrients compared to flakes. This makes them especially beneficial for larger fish or fish with higher energy requirements.

2. Longer Water Stability

• Pellets maintain their integrity longer in water compared to flakes, which can quickly break down and cloud the water. This reduces waste and keeps the aquarium cleaner.

3. Less Waste 

• Pellets are easier to portion out, reducing the risk of overfeeding. With flakes, it’s easier to feed too much, leading to uneaten food sinking to the bottom and decaying.

4. Reduced Air Swallowing

• Surface-feeding fish consuming flakes may accidentally swallow air, leading to digestive or swim bladder issues. Pellets minimize this risk.
